Amsterdam Sights, Sounds and Hotels

In 1880 Amsterdam created a new town square by filling in two canals and Waterlooplein (Waterloo Square) was born. The government then compelled the mostly Jewish outdoor market, which had been located on Jodenbreestraat, to re-locate to the new square. In the aftermath of WWWII the streets and surrounding area of Waterlooplein became deserted and empty, until in the 1950’s when the economy of Holland took an upturn and prosperity returned to Amsterdam and with it the rebirth of the Waterlooplein Flea Market. Today the Flea Market offers an amazing variety of goods from valuable Delph ware to traditional Dutch clogs to American blue jeans.

Amsterdam's Waterlooplein Flea Market is great place to learn much about the people of the city, and also necessary to complete your Amsterdam shopping experience. There are many great Amsterdam hotels where you can book your accommodation, and the rest will all follow naturaly.
