The Belvedere, built between 1590 and 1595, is a lovely fortified villa in Florence and was constructed by Buontalenti, whom Ferdinand I commissioned for this important work. The tranquil gardens of the fort offer a superlative view of Florence. Exhibitions of the works of contemporary artists are held here in the summer. The Belvedere can be reached by going through the Boboli gardens of Palazzo Pitti.
